The Excellence in Health & Safety Training Award celebrates Irish-based organisations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to developing the health & safety knowledge and skills of their own employees over the past 12 months. This award recognises employers who have invested in effective, innovative, and impactful internal training programmes to enhance workforce competence and safety culture. The judges will be looking for organisations that have implemented effective, innovative, and measurable training initiatives, improving workforce competence, compliance, and overall health & safety culture. Entry is by a five-page (A4) PDF submission. Judges will look for clear, evidence-based information supported by facts, data, and testimonials, addressing the following key criteria:

  • Background: Provide an overview of your organisation, including size, sector, and nature of operations. Explain the context for your health & safety training initiatives and why they are a priority within your organisation.
  • Programme: Detail your training programmes, including curriculum development, employee numbers, frequency of delivery, and any relevant accreditation or affiliations. Highlight how the programme is structured to meet organisational and regulatory health & safety requirements.
  • Development: Describe how your training initiatives develop employees’ skills and knowledge, preparing them to meet operational challenges, maintain compliance, and contribute to a strong health & safety culture.
  • Excellence in Training: Provide examples where your organisation has gone beyond standard training requirements to enhance employee development. This may include bespoke programmes, mentoring, innovative delivery methods, or additional support initiatives.
  • Wider Exposure: Outline how employees are exposed to the broader health & safety community. This could include guest speakers, research participation, collaboration with other organisations, attendance at industry events, or dissemination of learning through workshops, publications, or competitions. Highlight examples of knowledge sharing, awards, or recognition demonstrating the wider impact of your training initiatives.
