Irish fire protection group Wtech Fire Group has completed three strategic acquisitions and opened a new €2.5m group headquarters in Mullingar, cementing its position as one of Europe's leading fire safety platforms.

According to Think Business, the Mullingar-born business has grown to 13 companies and expanded its workforce beyond 860 people following the addition of three businesses across Ireland, Germany and Spain.

In Ireland, the group acquired Absolute Fire & Security, a provider of fire protection and security services operating across Louth, Meath and Dublin with over 40 years of combined industry experience.

In Germany, Wtech added Feuerfuchs Brandschutz GmbH, a specialist in the supply, installation and maintenance of stationary fire extinguishing systems employing more than 40 people.

A third acquisition, PACISA, a Madrid-headquartered fire protection firm with a workforce exceeding 215 people and operations across Spain, Portugal, England, Romania, Slovakia and Germany is set to complete in the coming weeks.

The new 10,000 sq ft headquarters will house group functions and Wtech's FAST (Fire and Security Technology) division as a dedicated centre of excellence, with capacity for approximately 100 additional roles.

"Our new headquarters represents a new chapter for Wtech Fire Group," said group chief executive Ted Wright. "It brings our people, systems and capabilities together under one roof in a way that will allow us to scale faster and deliver even greater value to our clients across Europe."

The expansion follows a separate announcement that Wtech has entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by US-listed APi Group Corporation, a global provider of fire and life safety and security services with over 500 locations worldwide.
