Trumbull nursing home’s water tested positive for Legionella for months before evacuation

The water at St. Joseph’s Center, the Trumbull nursing home that recently closed after two evacuations, tested positive for Legionella bacteria multiple times in 2024 — and at increasingly higher levels.

But St. Joseph’s and its parent company, Genesis HealthCare, failed to address the issue until inspectors started asking questions in February of this year, a report reveals. Residents were first evacuated from the building in March.
