Advanced Gas Systems Ltd (AGSL), a Tipperary-based provider of gas detection, proving, and fire suppression systems, has been acquired by Swedish Safe Monitoring Group, a developer and manufacturer of gas detection and safety monitoring systems.

The transaction was supported by law firm Browne Jacobson.

The acquisition is designed to expand both companies’ operations across Europe while enhancing safety services for commercial and industrial clients. Safe Monitoring Systems, backed by Swedish private equity firm Alder, said the deal will allow continued growth in protecting people, equipment, and the environment from hazardous gas leaks.

William Darmody, partner and head of Browne Jacobson’s Irish corporate team, commented: “This deal demonstrates the continued strength and confidence in Ireland's M&A market, particularly for cross-border transactions involving international buyers. Safe Monitoring Group's acquisition of Advanced Gas Systems is a testament to the quality of Irish businesses and their appeal to strategic investors from across Europe.”

“As our recent Inward Investment UK & Ireland 2025 report highlights, Ireland remains an attractive destination for international investment, and we're seeing that confidence translate into real deal activity. Our corporate team prides ourselves on supporting our clients to achieve their ambitions, whether that's a family business securing the right buyer for the next chapter of growth, or an international acquirer expanding into new markets,” Darmody added.

AGSL, founded in 2015 by Ross and Caitriona Larkin, has provided tailored safety solutions across Ireland, including design, supply, installation, and maintenance of gas detection and fire suppression systems. The company serves a broad commercial and industrial client base, reinforcing the critical role of safety technology in operational risk management.
