Donegal-based civil engineering firm Source Civil has unveiled its Make It Safe Everyday (MISE) initiative to reinforce personal responsibility and proactive safety on construction sites. The launch coincides with the Construction Industry Federation’s national Back to Basics safety campaign, running until 24 October.

Irish football icon Packie Bonner joined the company in Donegal Town to introduce the initiative, which aims to remind workers that safety begins with individual action. “Accidents happen when people don’t stop to think. MISE reminds us all that everyone plays a part in keeping themselves and their colleagues safe,” said Bonner.

According to Source Civil’s Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, Eoghan McKeigue, the initiative highlights the need for continuous learning and improvement rather than focusing solely on compliance. “Safety isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about building awareness, learning from experience, and supporting one another on site,” he said.

As part of the programme, the MISE logo will be featured on all company PPE, serving as a daily reminder to prioritise risk identification, clear communication, and shared accountability. Managing Director Enda Healy emphasised that the initiative was developed internally and reflects the company’s core philosophy: “Our people are our greatest asset, and protecting them is our greatest responsibility.”

The MISE programme underscores Source Civil’s commitment to embedding safety into every task, conversation, and decision across its workforce.
