SOCOTEC, a UK-based engineering and technical consultancy firm, has opened a new office in Dublin to enhance its fire engineering and structural safety services across Ireland.

The move follows its acquisition of Irish infrastructure company Lloyds Datum Group earlier this year.

The Dublin office will complement SOCOTEC’s existing Letterkenny facility, which has provided specialised fire engineering support to clients across Ireland and the UK.

The company said the location will strengthen service delivery for its growing Irish client base and enable the expansion of offerings across multiple sectors.

Associate Director for Fire Engineering Wayne Somanna will lead the Dublin office. He stated, “Our business unit is focusing on strategic, specific key targets rather than mass expansion and while this Dublin office is primarily for engineering use, it’s a good indication of what SOCOTEC plans to do when it comes to further expansion into the country. We’re not only focusing on engineering but offering holistic technical consultancy services.”

SOCOTEC’s Irish Fire Engineering team delivers Fire Safety Engineering Services, Access and Use Consultancy, Ancillary Certification, Fire Safety Audits, and Fire Risk Assessment Services. The company supports clients from project inception to completion, including developing Fire Safety Strategies, Fire Safety Certificates, Disability Access Certificates, and conducting on-site BC(A)R inspections and certification services.

Matthew Marriott, CEO of SOCOTEC UK and Ireland, said, “Our new Dublin office is the next logical step for SOCOTEC, following our acquisition of Lloyds Datum Group, and when combined with our engineering expertise and environmental services, positions us to offer clients a complete range of technical consultancy solutions.”
