The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has announced its support for the Construction Industry Federation’s (CIF) Back to Basics safety campaign, running from 13–24 October 2025. The initiative, which aligns with European Safety Week, urges Ireland’s construction sector to revisit and reinforce the fundamental principles of workplace safety, particularly when working at height.

Over the course of the two-week campaign, IPAF’s Irish Country Manager, Damien O’Connor, will collaborate with contractors across Ireland to deliver a series of site visits and safety briefings.

These sessions engage project management teams, EHS personnel, general construction workers, and mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) operators and spotters. Each event aims to promote safer practices on-site and ensure all workers are familiar with essential MEWP safety measures.

The campaign highlights the need to prioritise fundamental practices such as proper machine selection, ground condition assessment, pre-use inspections, operator familiarisation, safe supervision, and robust rescue planning. By reinforcing these basics, industry leaders hope to reduce the risk of avoidable accidents and create a stronger safety culture across all construction sites.

Both organisations share a commitment to ensuring every worker returns home safely each day through practical awareness, training, and a renewed focus on safety fundamentals.
