HSE sets sights on 7-day care and cutting diagnostic waste in new corporate plan

The HSE’s 2025–2027 Corporate Plan outlines a sweeping overhaul aimed at increasing capacity, cutting inefficiencies, and digitising patient access. Among the standout shifts: moving to seven-day service models, expanding digital health tools, and tackling the estimated 30% of care deemed unnecessary—such as duplicate diagnostics and inappropriate prescriptions.

Plans include six new surgical hubs, expanded community networks, and continued development of elective hospitals in Dublin, Cork, and Galway. A major push for integrated, locally delivered care is underpinned by new health regions and digital platforms to personalise and streamline services.
