Fresh safety concerns emerge at Stryker’s Cork facilities

A second fire in as many years at Stryker’s Cork operations has reignited long-standing safety concerns among staff and unions. The latest incident at the Tullagreen plant saw an automatic alarm system fail to activate, forcing a manual evacuation. While no injuries occurred, union leaders are calling for direct intervention from CEO Kevin Lobo and an urgent Health and Safety Authority investigation.

With Stryker’s Cork hub employing over 4,000 people and serving as its largest operation outside the US, the outcome of these safety discussions could have significant implications for its European manufacturing and innovation footprint.
