Det-Tronics, a leading provider of safety and hazard-mitigation systems for the oil and gas sector, has acquired Optronics, a Norwegian company specialising in optical gas detection technologies for energy, marine, and industrial applications.
The acquisition enhances Det-Tronics’ global footprint and strengthens its ability to deliver comprehensive safety solutions across high-risk operations.
Det-Tronics operates under Stamford-based Spectrum Safety Solutions, which was formed in 2024 following the sale of Carrier’s industrial fire businesses to Sentinel Capital Partners. Spectrum employs approximately 1,400 professionals worldwide and manages multiple brands, including Marioff, Autronica, Fireye, and Det-Tronics, serving a diverse set of industrial and energy customers globally.
“Optronics is an innovation leader in high-end optical gas detection with tremendous growth prospects,” said Rajan Goel, CEO of Spectrum Safety Solutions.
The integration of Optronics’ technology is expected to complement Spectrum Safety Solutions' current offerings and accelerate its development of next-generation detection systems.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Oslo, Optronics specialises in optical gas sensors and detection solutions for energy, marine, and industrial environments. Its technologies support early hazard detection and emergency response, helping to reduce operational risks and improve workforce safety across complex industrial processes.
This is Det-Tronics’ second acquisition in recent months, following its June purchase of Texas-based R.C. Systems, a provider of gas detection products and solutions. Together, these acquisitions expand the company’s technological capabilities, broaden its product portfolio, and reinforce its position as a leading global provider of safety and hazard-mitigation systems.
Det-Tronics has stated that the acquisition aligns with its broader growth strategy to deliver enhanced safety solutions across multiple sectors. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
