The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has updated its product safety warning for circulating pumps used in Ireland, removing several models previously listed. The revision comes after reports identified electrical coupling risks similar to those found in Tucson pumps, which could cause electrocution.
The CCPC first issued the warning on October 24, 2025, and advised tradespeople to exercise caution while working on heating systems using these pumps. Consumers were instructed to take no immediate action while investigations continued to determine if the products met statutory safety standards.
Affected models include AquaPro RS 25/6 EAA, Katsu Tools Star 25, Embrass Peerless Eclipse CFA-25-50, THS Thermostyle THS RS25/6 EAQ, Trident STAR 25/6EA, Boiler M8 RS25/6 EAZ, Suntask Star A PUM-STAR15/6A, IBO NOVA 25-40 180 and Beta 2, Avansa 32/6/180E, and Intertrade 6 metre head circulation pump (Type R S25/6EAQ).
Following engagement with manufacturers, the CCPC confirmed that Archergas Model 15-60/130, Lowara Ecocirc and Ecocirc+, and the current BritTherm P2 25/5 models are no longer subject to the warning and have been removed from the list. Companies are legally obligated to act immediately if they become aware of potential safety risks in their products.
The CCPC emphasised that the update was part of a precautionary approach to prevent harm and keep tradespeople and businesses informed of potential hazards in heating system components. The move reinforces regulatory oversight and the importance of compliance in maintaining workplace safety standards.
Businesses using circulating pumps are encouraged to review the updated CCPC list and take necessary precautions to safeguard workers and mitigate operational risk.
