Boston Scientific Clonmel won the Health & Safety Excellence Award – Life Sciences at the Health & Safety Excellence Awards 2025 earlier this year, recognised for its structured, technology-driven approach to improving workplace safety.
Its 2024 initiatives, including a digital Control of Works system, an eBinder Chemical Management System, and a refreshed Safety Advocates programme, delivered measurable improvements in risk mitigation, compliance, and staff engagement.
Judges highlighted the company’s interactive and inclusive approach, noting the innovative use of digital tools and comprehensive safety systems.
“This contender has taken an engaging and interactive approach to workplace safety, with initiatives like the 'Careful Charlie' competition making safety a shared responsibility among staff. Their structured use of digital tools, including a chemical register and activity tracking software, highlights a strong commitment to innovation in health and safety. They are recognised for their long-standing dedication, reflected in impressive safety improvements and industry accreditations,” the judges said.
The achievement reflects the rising standards within the Health & Safety Excellence Awards, showcasing how organisations increasingly integrate safety leadership, operational discipline, and measurable outcomes into their management systems.
As the sector looks ahead, Boston Scientific Clonmel’s success sets the benchmark for 2026, raising the bar for operational safety and innovation. Who will rise to take the spotlight next year and continue to define best practice in life sciences health and safety?
We’ll soon find out as Health and Safety leaders and innovators are invited to enter the 2026 awards. Entries will close on 16 January 2026, with finalists to be announced on 26 February 2026.
