US-based private equity firm Agellus Capital has announced the acquisition of Omaha-based Crux Consulting, which will join Bluejack Fire & Life Safety, a national service provider of fire and life safety services headquartered in Houston, Texas, according to Business Wire.

Crux Consulting, founded by Shane Cherney in 2021, is a fire and life safety design, engineering and consulting provider for federal, commercial, critical energy and industrial facilities.

The combined entity will operate as Orcus Fire & Risk, led by Co-Presidents Marcelo D'Amico, PE and Shane Cherney, PE. Services span code consulting, risk modelling, engineering and design, procurement, project management, and system installation and testing.

Shane Cherney said: "We were drawn to the Agellus team's experience building a scalable platform within the fire and life safety industry and felt an immediate alignment with Phil McVey and the broader Bluejack leadership team. This partnership enables us to scale our high-demand services, while expanding into new markets, aligned with evolving industry needs and creating broader career opportunities for our team."

Phil McVey, CEO of Bluejack Fire & Life Safety, said: "We are thrilled to have the Crux team join Bluejack. By combining them with our existing fire protection engineering business, Orcus Fire & Risk, we can bring Crux's substantial breadth and technical expertise to more clients and vertical markets."

Jeff Aiello, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Agellus Capital, said: "Crux brings specialized code and regulatory expertise and an engineering-led approach to complex fire and life safety challenges. Together with Orcus, we will deepen our ability to support customers from early design and coordination with local code and permitting authorities, through final approval and execution, while maintaining the technical rigor and responsiveness customers expect."
